O : We’re so excited to interview you today! We’ll start by you introducing yourself.

E : Hi, my name is Esther Won, also known as Zesty, I’m a 16 year old high school student who loves to draw traditionally and digitally.

O : When did you start art and what inspired you to do so?

E : Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always showed interest in art as I would doodle in sketchbooks and scrap sheets of paper. It wasn’t until I was 12 when I wanted to take art more seriously and focus on creating and improving on my drawings. I was inspired by my friends, family, and lot of different artists I’ve seen on Instagram and YouTube such as Picolo, Cyarine, and Star.Bite. My friends and family supported me in my art, and these artists inspired me to keep improving and not give up.

O : I heard that you are a self-taught artist. Do you have any tips for beginners?

E : Don’t stop practicing. I know it’s been said over and over again, but honestly that’s the only way to improve. It builds up muscle memory and a visual library. Also, use references, they’re very helpful when you want your drawing to have realistic proportions. Lastly, have fun with your art. It’s your own artwork, and you should not let other people’s negative comments be the reason that you dislike your art.

O : What are you planning on doing with your art in the future?

E : I plan to study architecture at U of T, as well as growing my art Instagram and opening up an online store where I can sell prints, etc. It’s a bit of a far fetched dream, but hopefully I’ll get there some day!

O : That’s it for this interview and thanks so much for joining us today !

E : Thanks for interviewing me, it was really fun !

check out Esther's art page @zestywon ! truly one of the most underrated artists i have ever seen :))
