Interview: Singer Siv Disa Discusses New Single “Fear”

Oneul Zine got the great opportunity to interview the talented singer Siv Disa to discuss her new single "Fear" that released today (May 29th)!

Hey Siv! We’re so excited to interview you today on your new single "Fear". We’ll start by introducing yourself. 

My name is Siv, I release music under the name Siv Disa in nyc!

What can you tell us about your new single?

The new single is called fear, and though it was written pre-corona, it definitely has more resonance now- I think a lot of us are feeling a lot of fear, whether it's of health, our future plans, or the future of the world.

I’ve noticed that you put a lot of effort into visuals for your music videos! What were you trying to portray for this one and what inspired the vibes ?

I was inspired by the vintage 70's film camera vibes of retro b-horror movies. I wanted viewers to watch it without knowing if they're the bad guy, or the ones running away.

How do you want people to feel after listening to your new song?

I want people to feel ready to face difficult times, it's a song that I wrote to ask myself the hard questions, and writing it helped me face the denial I had over recovering from a bad relationship and helped me move on.

Do you think your music has changed since your last release?

This one is definitely dancier, but I think my producer @samandthesea and I are still on the same path!

Are you working on any new projects at the moment?

I'm working on a new music video for the next single, and an album after that!

How has quarantine been affecting you and your music?

It's given me a lot of time to experiment and record, but it's also meant I can't play shows or see my band. My social life is...my band and people I know who also play music in new york, so I miss my community a lot.
